Damon:
It doesn’t seem possible it has already been 57 months since project start, but here we are today and the project is almost complete.
If the wells cited do not rebound, it sounds like project will be completed by end of this calendar year.
Thank you for keeping us well-posted on the results. This is awesome news!

Subject: Monthly update for Sellers Auto / Artist Studio petroleum cleanup site 489201547 / 489201548 (special update – update #57)
July 27, 2011
Ms. Mills,
I would like to take this opportunity to give you our fifty-seventh monthly update on the project. I will follow up with a more thorough update later, but this one is just a brief one to let you know that we have finally reached cleanup target levels for every monitoring well sampled at the end of June, 2011.
Report Status
The Year Four Quarter Four report is due on August 12, 2011 (this date was extended from a July due date). This one will include a milestone evaluation and a professional recommendation for the next course of action. We are funded to run the system an additional three months to make sure that there is not a rebound in concentrations. I think we may be able to turn the system off and enter Post Active Monitoring by sometime in September 2011. I’ll follow up in the August update with more detail on this.
Milestone Update:
All of the wells sampled in the comprehensive annual sampling event at the end of June: AW-2, AW-5A, AW-6R, AW-10, AW-15, AW-18, AW-22, AW-24, AW-26, AW-27, AW-28, AW-30, DW-11, MW-5 and MW-9 are below Groundwater Cleanup Target Levels. Attached is a PDF table of the lab results that I received today.
From the above wells I note that AW-28, DW-11 and MW-9 each had concentrations above cleanup target levels at the end of March and this is the first quarter that these three wells are clean. In the next sampling event we’ll need to see that these remain below cleanup levels for a second quarter. We’ll also need to see that AW-10 and MW-5 do not rebound. However, the late June sampling event is the second consecutive clean quarter for these two wells.
I am out of the office July 28th through August 1st, but I will return on Tuesday August 2nd. I will follow up with an update very soon after August 2nd with more details. Please feel free to call me anytime if you need additional information or have any questions.

Ms. Mills,
I would like to take this opportunity to give you our fifty-sixth monthly update on the project.
General Status:
There have not been any major changes with the operational strategy or sampling plan for the site in several months. Yesterday, Argus performed the annual sampling event. I expect in two weeks, we will have new groundwater data to share. The next report is the annual one, which is due on July 12, 2011.
A professional recommendation to turn the system off and enter monitoring or to continue to operate the system for another quarterly period will be in this report.
System Runtime & Performance:
We have received no notices of downtime lately. All air sparging wells are showing high flow rates as designed. Three of the multiphase treatment well network of 26 (originally 24) are turned off. In other words, there are only 23 vapor recovery wells being used to capture vapors. Only the ones in the area of the contamination are being used to recover groundwater. The target area is still the isolated area around monitoring wells MW-5, AW-10 & AW-28. Surprisingly, with the heavy rain events we have been getting the infiltration gallery has continued to perform well.
Report Status
As stated above, the Year Four Quarter Four report is due on July 12, 2011. This one will include a milestone evaluation and a professional recommendation for the next course of action. I recently created a new work order to run the system for 90 days after this period, just in case it is needed. However, it is possible this report may have a recommendation to turn the system off.
Milestone Update:
There isn’t a new milestone evaluation for this update. In the past one, we had all wells having met milestones for the first time. The site showed the lowest levels of contamination yet at that time – the groundwater sampling event of March 2011.
I will not be able to submit the update on August 1st because I will be out of town, but I will send it on August 2nd 2011. However, I will likely contact you in the middle of the month with the new data before the monthly report.
I hope you have a great Fourth of July weekend. Please feel free to call me anytime if you need additional information or have any questions.
Thank you,
Damon Taylor

Dear ECO-Canoeists, We've just had our first Canoe Clean-up with our new van!! It took us and the trailer to Lake Mills and back again!! See our transportation: http://www.eco-action.net/images/caravan2011.jpg And, we can store all our gear in it! SO,Friends, we are back to weekly Sunday afternoon Clean-Ups as we have done over 600 times in the last 12 years. July 10 we will be going to South Lake Triplet in Casselberry. Sign up now so all the canoes aren't spoken for when you call - we only have a few left. The following Sunday we will return to Bridgeout, which has recently flooded its banks! It's wonderful not to have to bug our friends who have managed to get us out there almost every week anyway! Thanks to all for putting up with this nuisance. WE ARE BACK 100%!! Of the Mayor’s list of the benefits of SunRail, these three are probably the most important for our neighborhood:
“Help for the Elderly and Handicapped
• SunRail will give the elderly and handicapped residents of Central Florida a new means of transportation and enhanced ability to be self-reliant.
Bolstering Home Prices and Strengthening the Real Estate Market Against Future Downturns
• Within 20 years, property owners can expect an increase of almost nine times their current value for property values within one-half mile of station stops.
Access to Jobs and Opportunities
• SunRail will give residents expanded access to jobs. Conversely, the 61-mile commuter train will give employers access to a much broader base of potential employees.”
If you support SunRail, and I believe that is the consensus of our most of our neighbors, please email or call the Governor’s office and tell him so.

Subject: Voice Your Support for SunRail

Are you tired of traffic jams on I-4? We are on the verge of having a solution to those and many other challenges….SunRail. SunRail is a 61-mile commuter line that would run from Deland to Poinciana. There will be four stops in Downtown Orlando at Florida Hospital, LYNX Central Station, Church Street and Orlando Health Medical Center. Governor Scott and his team are in the final days of a review period and we need your help in making sure that the Governor knows that this project is a priority for Central Florida. The strength of Central Florida is reinforced each and every time we stand together behind projects of regional significance. There are many throughout Florida who do not support SunRail and they have shared that with Governor Scott. It is important that your voice of support is heard. Please write a letter or email Governor Scott, let him know that you live/work/play in Orlando and you support SunRail. |

Damon:
As always, thank you very much for giving our neighborhood the monthly heads-up on cleanup progress at this site.
The number of reports tells the tale of your diligence in keeping us well-informed since the project started over 4 years ago.
We look forward to the annual summary of operations at the site in the next report.
Best regards,
Louise

Ms. Mills,
I would like to take this opportunity to give you our fifty-fifth monthly update on the project. I’m sending this update a day early because I will be in training (unavailable by e-mail) on Wednesday June 1st.
General Status:
There have not been any major changes with the operational strategy or sampling plan for the site since the last update. Nor have there been any periods of down time or reported operational problems. The last time the groundwater was sampled was in mid March, so the next time we should have data would be sometime after mid June. Therefore, we should have new groundwater data for you in the next update as long as I am able to get it ahead of the next report, which is due on July 12, 2011. This report will be a significant one because it’s an annual report, which is to summarize the fourth year of operation.
In the last update, I mentioned that the spare soil vapor extraction blowers still wasn’t fixed, but this was fixed since the last update. Now, the other soil vapor extraction blower needs some maintenance. I am not sure if the other one is operable, but if it isn’t, we again have two soil vapor extraction blowers, of which only one is operable. This hasn’t affected run time or efficiency though. The goal is to rotate between the two of them periodically to ensure reliability.
Even with the occasional heavy rains, the infiltration gallery has continued to perform well.
I look forward to sending the next update on July 1, 2011. Please feel free to call me anytime if you need additional information or have any questions.
