General Membership Meeting – LYMMO Meeting 1/26

Neighbors,

The community meeting to discuss the Lynx Lymmo project will be held on Thuesday 26 January 2012 (see attached public notice).  The consultants will be presenting their preferred northern alignment at that meeting.  Our neighborhood has been very much engaged in this urban planning effort and we have every reason to anticipate that our concerns and preferences will be reflected in the Consultant’s recommended alignment.  This meeting will be our final chance to influence the future path of this transportation system which could be a huge benefit to our neighborhood.  I hope that each of you will attend and that the Lake Formosa neighborhood will be well represented.

Dowd Variance

Here is the staff report which was just finished today.  Dowd is asking for a variance for height and will go before the MPB later this month.  he wants 55′ (Staff told me that the tower is no longer proposed since the elevator will not go to the loft).  Zonning is 35′.  There will (again according to staff) be canopy and subcanopy trees in the 10′ buffer yard in the rear and the building will be 65′ from the rear lot line.  I havent checked the staff report to make sure that these things are actually in it, but someone may want to check this.

Community Involvement Opportunity

As you know, I am on the Board of Ivanhoe Village Main Street – an organization dedicated to improving the commercial corridor along Orange Avenue from Magnolia to Florida Hospital. I have agreed to head the Promotions Committee that will plan festivals and public events, and am seeking other neighbors to work on this committee. We will be hosting four events or festivals a year. These could be anything from a snowman-building contest around Christmas, to a summer surf music fest in the park. Whatever ideas you have for an event, we need to hear them and we need your help to make them happen.
